What the Focus timer does
The Focus timer helps you stay with one task at a time — or gently shift when needed. You’ll find the Focus timer in the Focus tab, or you can track it from:
- Home screen widgets
- Lock screen via Live Activities
- Dynamic Island (iPhone)
- The web planner
- Your watch or tablet
How to use the Focus timer
For scheduled tasks
- The timer starts automatically when your scheduled task begins
- Go to the Focus tab to stay centered on that task
- Tap Pause if you need a break, Play to jump back in
- Tap +1 to add a minute (or several)
- Finished early? Drag the timer to the end to check it off
Note: All-day tasks no longer appear in the Focus tab or widget. They show in your Plan tab only.
For Anytime or To-do tasks
- In the Plan tab, tap the task you want to work on
- Tap the play icon in the bottom left
- The timer will start and take you to the Focus tab
Can I switch between tasks?
Yes. You can switch tasks anytime by tapping the active task in the Focus tab. Other timers keep running. This supports flexible attention, especially when your focus shifts naturally throughout the day.
